Classification of polarizing plates | 偏光板的分類

Polarizers are classified into two types: dye and iodine (I2) based on their materials. Dye-based polarizers have better resistance to high temperature and humidity and can be used in harsh environments. The iodine-based polarizer has a better polarization effect, but the degree of polarization decreases greatly under high temperature and high humidity.
The polarizer is a key component of the LCD. Its main function is to vibrate light in all directions through only a single direction, while the light vibrating in other directions will be shielded or absorbed. The polarizing plate controls the polarization direction of the light, so that the LCD can obtain the change of light and dark display by applying an external electric field. According to the characteristics of the polarizing plate, using alone or in combination with various optical compensation films and surface treatments, the LCD can achieve higher contrast and viewing angle display performance.

偏光板依材料分為染料系(dye)及碘系(I2)兩種,染料系偏光板具有較佳的耐高溫高濕的特性,可用於嚴苛環境。碘系偏光板的偏光效果較好,但在高溫高濕狀態下偏光度下降較大。
偏光板為LCD的關鍵零組件,主要功能是將全方向振動的光線,只通過單一方向振動光,而其他方向振動的光會被遮蔽或吸收。偏光板控制光線之偏振方向,使LCD得以外加電場得到明暗顯示的變化。根據偏光板的特性,單獨使用或搭配各種光學補償膜、表面處理可使LCD得到更高對比、視角的顯示性能。

Dye-based polarizing plates have excellent resistance to high temperature and humidity, and can be used in harsh environments.

Suitable for indoors and dark places. We do not recommend using the transmissive type in sunlight or outdoors as it is difficult to see when the sunlight is stronger than the backlight.

適用於室內及較黑暗的地方。在太陽光下或室外不建議使用透射型,因為在太陽光比背光燈強的情況下,面板會較難辨識。

半透過型

It is attached to the back of the liquid crystal panel, and when the outside light is strong, the backlight turns off and uses reflection. When the outside light is weak, the backlight turns on and collects the light. The translucent type can be used in both dark and bright areas.

貼附在液晶面板的背面,當外部光強時背光燈會關閉並且利用反射採光,此時為反射型。當外部光線微弱時,背光燈打開並收集光線此時為透過型。半透過型可以在黑暗和明亮的地方使用。

A polarizing plate is attached to the back of the liquid crystal panel to reflect and collect external light.

在液晶面板的背面上貼上反射板,收集並反射外部光的類型。不適用於較暗的室內及光線不足的地方。

I2-based polarizers | 碘系偏光板

I2-based polarizing plates have a good polarization effect, but the degree of polarization decreases in high temperature and high humidity conditions.

碘系偏光板的偏光效果較好,但在高溫高濕狀態下偏光度下降較大。
